1 October 2016 at Goldie Estate vineyard on Waiheke Island.... images by Sonja Read Photography
We were so lucky that our friends at Goldie Estate let us festoon their tasting room with armloads of foliage and an abundance of blooms supplied by Nourish Gardens on Waiheke, and Bloom Brokers...roses, anemones, ranunculus, stock, snapdragons, proteas, waratahs, irises, echiums, wisteria, orchids, granny's bonnets, viburnum, tulips and even native clematis
Roz, gatherer of greenery extroadinaire, began with some tips on foraging- and our lovely workshop women contributed some of their own foraged goodies....
I began the handmade bouquet making demonstration by stripping and preparing some blooms...and had to show everyone the latest issue of Together Journal with Wildflower's arrangement photographed so beautifully by Greta Kenyon.
I made a whimsical"undone" posy, a rustic gathered bunch and an architectural bouquet- and after demonstrating some tying and wrapping techniques, set everyone free to select their flowers and greenery and start creating!
Wow! Some amazing work and all set amongst Goldie Estates gorgeous vine covered fields- with the iconic pothutukawa topped hill (where so many of our bride's have been married) right in front of us. Lesley and both Victorias looked after us so well- delicious platters and glasses of wine to reward us at the end of our floral exersions
Thanks SO MUCH to Sonja Read Photography for all these amazing images....and thanks to all the lovely women who took part in our workshop- we had a blast xx
